Hello Friends!

A warm welcome to easy cooking blog no.3

Hope you are keeping well and staying safe.

Introduction

I share easy, healthy yet delicious food recipes. Even a newbie can find it easy to master these simple recipes. This pandemic has taught us many lessons including how important our life is, and how to keep a good balance between our physical and mental health.

Undoubtedly, a good diet and good health go hand in hand. Although it is fine to have lavish meals once in a while to satisfy our endless food cravings, it is extremely vital to scrutinize what we are dumping in our body system to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

One of the best approaches that we can employ in this direction is by opting for a simple, wholesome and nutritious diet that does not load our bodies with extra calories but provide us with all the essential nutrients that help our body function normally and at its best.

After all, we are what we eat!

We have to put every single effort to design our meals that take our health into consideration, believe me, simple food can be life-changing. And, what if I tell you that today's recipe is perfect for those who watch their weight, prefer eating healthy, and suitable for everybody without any age discrimination. It is very light on the tummy and loaded with crunchy vegetables and the goodness of fresh curd (probiotics present in the curd are good for our gut flora).

Who does not love sandwiches? They are easy to make, easy to pack, perfect party snack, and easy outdoor meal, and for kids who do not like to have vegetables in their meals, mums can simply dodge them by adding all the essential vegetables into their sandwiches and surprise them with a fancy meal.

Yes, we can use the goodness of curd to make an amazing breakfast recipe. Curd or yoghurt is rich in probiotics, both are very essential for our digestive system. They help to fight our body with a variety of bad bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms that we consume on daily basis through different sources. So, do consume curd and yoghurt if you are not allergic to them.

We can replace our traditional mayo or cream cheese with curd. We should always switch to healthier options. What else is better than curd itself? Without any further due, let me introduce our magical recipe of the day, which hardly takes any time to get assembled.

Hung Curd or Yoghurt sandwich

 Ingredients

Bread slices
Curd or Yoghurt
Red onion
Cucumber
Capsicum
Sweet corn
Carrots
Green Chillies
Cabbage
Red chilli flakes
Black pepper
Salt
Chat masala (optional)

Note: Quantity of vegetables you can adjust according to your taste and availability. You can choose any vegetable of your choice and omit any of the above mentioned.
You can use store-bought yoghurt if you do not intend to do this extra work of draining the extra water from the curd. Always try to use fresh curd for the best results. If you find curd a bit sour you can add some sugar to make it taste better.

How to make Hung Curd

Drain all the extra whey (water) present in the curd using a muslin cloth, squeeze it gently.

To assemble the sandwich

Now take a bowl, and add the thick curd into it. Add the chopped vegetables of your choice and the desired spices, it tastes delicious with salt and pepper only, but you can add a variety of masalas (spices) to it. Mix all the vegetables, spices and curd well enough.

Take the bread slices, spread this curd mixture evenly onto the bread. Toast the sandwich in a toaster or on a griddle by applying some butter or ghee to the bread ( the use of butter and ghee is totally optional).

And your delicious and healthy sandwiches are ready to eat.

You can pair up these amazing sandwiches with tea, coffee, salad or any dip of your choice. It tastes even better when serves hot. However, it tends to get soggy if kept for some time.
